Non-Profit Consulting Services

In 1988, I realized the only way I would be able to bring my applied theatre work to the community was to form a nonprofit. Like many executive directors in my generation, I learned my administration skills from the ground up. In 2012, I was asked to teach a Community Leadership course in Fundraising at the University of New Hampshire’s Thompson School.

Soon I was also teaching Grantwriting and Introduction to Nonprofits, and a graduate course in Development for the Social Work and Resource Management departments.

Later I taught these same courses at Great Bay Community College, and began doing consulting work with different nonprofits both locally and regionally through The Woodland Group and GoodWork consultants. The most important thing I’ve learned and try to pass on to my clients? It’s all about how you tell your story!

Food for Thought! Story Explorations for Non-Profits

The Heart - What is the story of our mission?

Why do we exist? How do we tell this story in a way that attracts funders, clients and supporters?

The Head - What is the story of our organization?

How can our board and staff best work together to achieve our mission? Is our organizational structure serving us well?

The Soul - What is the story of our team?

How can we best collaborate with each other, stay inspired and do our best work?
